Michael S. Spearman
Former King County Superior Court Judge |
Michael Spearman was a member of the King County Superior Court bench for 14 years. He was appointed by Governor Mike Lowry in 1993 and served until September 2007. Before taking the bench, Judge Spearman was a trial attorney with the Federal Public Defender, The Defender Association and an associate with the firm of Adler, Giersch and Read.
During his years on the bench, Judge Spearman presided over a wide range of civil cases including marital dissolution, personal injury, asbestosis, real property, discrimination, medical malpractice, probate, construction litigation, class actions and other complex civil cases such as Neuheisel v. the University of Washington and the NCAA. He has frequently given presentations at Continuing Legal Education seminars regarding motions and trial practice in Superior Court and legal writing. As a trial lawyer, Judge Spearman specialized in family law, personal injury and criminal defense.
